For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery - Galatians 5:1
It has been a long time since the day God saved me. I remember the day well. Mostly I remember God's voice saying, "When you die, you are not going to the same place as your family."
Scripture teaches that our sin separates us from God and condemns us to hell. But this day God wasn't condemning me he was inviting me into his family. I accepted his invitation to surrender my life to him. I repented and minutes later was baptized.
At first, I found the Bible hard to understand and living in victory over sin easy. Within a few years, that switched, and my ability to understand the Bible became easier, and my freedom over sin became more difficult.
The Pharisee's could quote scripture left and right. They knew a lot but loved little as sin kept them in slavery. The "Yoke of slavery "was tight around their necks.
My house has been empty this week as Angie has been in North Carolina at Centrifuge. In this quiet house, the Holy Spirit has been speaking loud and clear, "I've given you freedom in Christ, live in that freedom. "
Today is Independence Day, and I hope you take a moment to reflect on the day God gave you liberty from sin. Ask yourself, "Am I living in that freedom?"
